I've been trying to actually think about my food when I eat it lately. I don't mean that I try to buy organically, locally, yadda yadda, but like where my food actually came from. When I eat a burrito, I think about the origins of the tortilla, how the rice grew, where the tomatos and avocados are from, etc. It's hard! That's pathetic!

Gary Snyder thinks that eating is a sacred thing. The daily necessity of eating puts us right in the middle of the ecology we try so desperately to separate ourselves from. He wrote a cool poem about it.
